Insurance renewal is the process of renewing or continuing the current policy coverage beyond its expiration date. When you make the renewal payment at the end of the existing policy term and continue with the coverage offered under your insurance plan, it is referred to as renewing your insurance policy.
To check your policy renewal date or other policy specifications, you can simply visit the official website of your insurance policy provider. Use your policy number to enter the site and check all your policy related details.
Ideally, you should renew your insurance policy 15 to 30 days before expiry date. However, you can renew your policy as early as 60 days before expiry.
Most insurance companies offer a grace period of 60 - 90 days from the expiry date when you can renew your insurance policy. Failing to renew during the grace period will get your policy lapsed and you would have to buy a new policy.
Depending on the insurance policy and the insurance company, the documents required for policy renewal might change. In general, you may need an ID proof such as Aadhaar card or Passport, copy of the existing policy, a photograph, and a duly-filled claim form, among others.
